Seattle Peace Chorus presents “Origins: Musical Migrations of Balkan Song & Dance on May 31 at Town Hall


“A fantastic opportunity to hear Seattle’s best Balkan singers, dancers & musicians”

This musical evening blends the voices of the Seattle Peace Chorus with a capella singing by the Dunava Balkan Women’s Choir and KlapaDooWopella singing traditional Balkan songs with dancing by the Radost Folk Ensemble, accompanied by some of Seattle’s best Balkan musicians.

Highlights include Wendy Marcus from Temple Beth Am, telling the miraculous story of the Sarajevo Haggadah, the centuries-old illuminated Jewish manuscript , movements from Rachmaninoff’s timeless Vespers, plus Orkestar RTW and Dromeno, longtime favorites in the Balkan music scene, rounding out this special performance. Directed by Frederick N. West.

Come early to hear Balkan Specialist Jim Hoath’s lecture at 6:30 p.m. on “Balkan Music, Language, & History.” It’s included with your admission ticket.
