In Spain, there’s Running of the Bulls. In Seattle, we have Running of the Balls.
10,000 yellow tennis balls are released out of a dumptruck on a very steep hill. Object of the ball dump is to get the balls down the hill as fast as possible. Kids roll up newspapers to use as sticks to get them down the hill and into the pen at the end. The balls all have numbers on them. People have pre-bought the balls and the “winning” ball gets a cash prize. This was an event hosted in Edmonds, Washington by international travel guru Rick Steves.
