It’s Always Something

gildas club copy 2

The Seattle branch of Gilda’s Club, located since 2002 in a landmark former mortuary at Broadway and Union, is keeping its name.

This is news because other outlets of the drop-in cancer support organization aren’t keeping the name.

One reason: the national Gilda’s organization merged with another group, The Wellness Community; the combined national group (and several of the local chapters) took on the new name Cancer Support Community.

Another reason, as cited in a CapitolHillSeattle.com story: some young adults these days don’t remember who Gilda Radner was. That’s almost as sad as cancer itself.
