The Swedish Housewife Presents
Immodesty Blaize and The West Coast Premier of the documentary “Burlesque Undressed”! March 23
“An evening of Glamour, History, Sizzling Hot Ladies and Celluloid”, Seattle debut performance of Britain’s Crown Jewel of Burlesque - Immodesty Blaize “Miss Exotic World 2007″ and West Coast Premiere of the documentary “Burlesque Undressed”.
Burlesque has shimmied itself into the mainstream ever so slyly that now even Cher and Christina are hopping on the bump and grind wagon! But before Hollywood goes all mainstream with their interpretation of the Art of Burlesque, there are now quite a few documentaries on the subject from different view points and perspectives that you should make yourself familiar with.
“Burlesque Undressed” Directed and written By Allison Grist is a great addition to this growing genera in film and is a loving look into the history, costumes, the current bombastic explosion of Burlesque, with historical film clips and interviews with costumers, historians and several of the beautiful and original Ladies of Golden Era of Burlesque including Joan Arline.
Miss Indigo Blue is featured in Golden Echo’s ” A Wink and A Smile,” the debut film by local director and writer Deirdre Timmons, a love letter to the Seattle Burlesque scene, which ran in theaters across North American, from the Gold Coast to the West Coast.
Dirty Martini has a documentary ” Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque” which will be making it’s World Primere at SIFF Cinema in collaboration with The Moisture Festival on March 29th.
Though not included in this evenings program due to a previous booking, I would feel amiss not mentioning that our own beloved Waxie Moon has a self-titled documentary from I Ate My Eye Films that is all about him and Boylesque, Directed by Wes Hurley, winner of The Golden Palm Award at The Mexico International Film Festival and Audience Award at The Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.
7:00PM - Screening of “Burlesque Undressed”

The Swedish Housewife Presents:
Justin Bond - “Angels of The Morning - The Ladies of AM Radio!”
March 18th
Last year we celebrated “The Rites of Spring” with Justin Bond, this year we celebrate “Angels of The Morning - The Ladies of AM Radio!”
“Slip into your STRING BIKINI and turn on your TRANS/SISTER radio and say hello to SUNNY SKIES with Justin Bond and The Ladies of top 40 AM. Picture yourself POOLSIDE in the early 1970’s slathered in COPPER TONE. The sun is Killing You Softly as you sip a PINA COLADA and breathe in the AFTERNOON DELIGHT. Justin promises to Light Up Your Life with a bevy of special guests! WERQUE!!!” - Justin Bond
Known to many as the star of John Cameron Mitchell’s film Short Bus, Singer, Songwriter, Provocateur, Tony and GLAAD nominated performance artist Justin Bond is an Obie, Bessie and Ethyl Eichelberger Award winner. Best known for his now defunct dead and buried persona Kiki of the punk cabaret duo Kiki & Herb–a phoenix rising from the ashes of Kiki–Bond continues to astound and soars to greater heights!
Since Kiki’s death Justin has performed as himself in four highly acclaimed shows: Lustre debuted at PS122 in NYC, then went on to play the “It’s Queer Up Here Arts Festival” in Manchester and in London’s Soho Theater. Close to You, his reinterpretation of the Classic Carpenters album “Close To You,” performed in Central Park NYC and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Glamour Damage made it’s world premier at the London Soho Theater. Rites Of Spring thrilled the Seattle audience last year at The Triple Door, and played San Francisco, Portland, and Joe’s Pub in NYC.
Justin’s debut album “Pink Slip” (a quadruple etendre!) was released last April. Several of the songs on this album were part of the amazing performance given last year at The Triple Door show that only concluded after three standing ovations and encores. You should all buy it! Or download it on itunes.
Justin Bond will be joined by Seattle’s own Kurt Bloch on guitar, Mark Pickerel on drums and Jim Sangster on bass. This promises to be a memorable evening.

Open Circle Theater is pleased to present the West Coast Premiere of Ken Urban’s The Private Lives of Eskimos (or 16 Words for Snow), running March 19 thru April 10.
Ken Urban’s brilliant and very dark comedy is a view of one man’s descent into madness. Called by NYTheatre “A taut and gripping contemporary techno-thriller” this is a show not to be missed. First a man loses the cell phone with his dead sister’s voice, leading to a strange woman answering it, and finally to spam-spouting eskimos. Dark, Chilling and wonderful!
Ken Urban is the internationally acclaimed author of I (heart) Kant, Mushroom, and Halo. This astounding play has been produced in NYC and Chicago, so this is the first production west of the Mississippi. The author has extensively revised this version of Eskimos specifically for this production. Plus, as a treat for Seattlites, the author, Ken Urban, will attend the opening night premiere at Open Circle Theater! (more info on Ken Urban at http://www.kenurban.org)

Artists’ Networking Event: Arts and Aging
Tuesday, December 15, 2009, 6-8 pm
Artist Trust is embarking on a series of events centered on the topic of arts and aging. Estate planning, legacy planning and much more will be addressed in this series.
The December Artists’ Networking Event launches this series and is based on Young @ Heart, a film about the senior citizens’ chorus that has delighted audiences worldwide with their covers of songs by groups such as The Clash and Coldplay. Meet Patrick Baroch, ITVS National Community Cinema Coordinator NW, and be entertained by the Raging Grannies!
Artist Trust regularly hosts Artists’ Networking Events, held in our fabulous Resource Room in Seattle. The themes of the Artists’ Networking Events are a starting point for conversations and interactions that lead to introductions, possible collaborations and in general – networking! The events bring artists together, introduce them to the many resources in the Resource Room and provide information on services available through Artist Trust’s Professional Resources and Financial Grant Programs.
All are invited to any of the events. Come check out our facility, interact with other artists, and enjoy coffee and treats.
