Artist and Seattle Twist contributor Janet Galore has a new show coming up at Cafe Racer exploring her love/hate relationship with commercial flying. She is fascinated by the design of commercial jet aircraft, the airline industry, air security, pilots, flight attendants, and luggage and most of her work in the past few years has pondered the act of climbing aboard what amounts to a time/space machine pipe bomb hurtling seven miles above the Earth’s surface, while pretending to be on a big bus.
She thinks about being inside the plane, and all the strange things that could happen there, and then shares these scary thoughts with us, the equally frightened and puzzled audience.
See her work at the opening Thursday November 20, 2008, 7-9 pm at Café Racer: 5828 Roosevelt Way NE in the new neighborhood of “Rosehill”.
If you can’t make it Thursday night, the show runs Nov 20 – Dec 16. Stop by for breakfast, lunch or dinner and prepare to be scared pantsless at 7000 feet.
